The 1950 Korean War resulted in over 100,000 orphans on both sides. North Korea sent more than 5,000 war orphans to different countries in Eastern Europe under the excuse of putting them in custody for education. Scattered throughout Eastern Europe to be taken care of by North Korea’s allies, these children forge ties of friendship with local children. And now, grown old, they look back on those days of friendship. A love story of a teacher who fell in love with another teacher from North Korea but had to be parted from each other is a poignant reminder of how thoughts and feelings transcend borders and ideologies.
